DIRECTOR

Kamillah akLaff is a Colombian-American artist and educator. She has a BA in Sociology from Tufts University and an MS in Education. akLaff has worked primarily as a language instructor both in New York City and in Cali, Colombia. A long time social dancer, Kamillah moved to Cali, Colombia to learn professional salsa caleña under the direction of Carlos Ceballos. Her three year tenure in Cali inspired the film, Género: Salsa. akLaff is also an alumna of the Downtown Community Television Center documentary filmmaking program, where she produced several student films. Her student film, ​El Largo Viaje de Regreso,​ was screened in festivals across the United States.
